Few people understand the opportunities and challenges of careful space planning and color application as Mary Anne Sayler does. For nearly two decades she worked at Gerson Bakar and Associates, the developer responsible for constructing the first planned apartment community (San Mateo’s 990-unit Woodlake Apartments). Ms. Sayler planned and implemented community facilities such as offices, gyms, community rooms and the like for more than 8000 units, initiating a breakthrough in American multi-family housing that has been copied many times. As VP of Marketing, her understanding of property investors’ perspectives influenced Gerson Bakar’s subsequent developments and acquisitions.
As owner of Sayler Design, Ms. Sayler has continued to apply her expertise to commercial spaces and multi-family housing developments. She and her team work with developers, property managers, owners, investors and others to provide effective design solutions for their properties. Whether through an extensive remodel or carefully selected paint color, Sayler Design’s efforts result in an updated and timeless look that is consistent with the facility’s use and adds value to the property.
